In Rooftop Agriculture, Rifat Mahbub Sakib explores the innovative
potential of the advanced possibilities of making urban rooftops as
agricultural spaces. The book presents a revolutionary idea for cities
struggling with food crises or environmental degradation, which is the
utilization of unused rooftops as agriculturally active green areas.
Sakib shares real success stories from around the world, showing how
the implementation of rooftop farming is possible in areas with high
population density.
Readers will get information about basic crop-growing techniques, the
advantages of hydroponics and aquaponics, and the ways to incorporate
community involvement into these projects.
Sakib points out the ecological benefits of rooftop agriculture, such as the
mitigation of urban heat effects, the enhancement of air quality, and the
increase of biodiversity.
With actionable tips and comprehensive guidelines, “Green Heights” is a
guide to urban citizens willing to become a part of the sustainable urban
food system.
